St. Louis Hybrid Spray Foam Insulation System – Project Comlete!
For the past 5 days our crew has been onsite in the Central West End insulating a historic home. This home was built in the early 1900’s and is constructed of brick and masonry. This makes this home the perfect candidate for spray foam insulation.
After purchasing the residence the homeowner began renovations. His first task was to remove all of the existing plaster walls in the home. Once this was complete, new walls were framed and electrical and plumbing were roughed in. The homeowner then turned to us to begin the insulation process.
Because the walls are constructed of multiple layers of brick, we recommended that the homeowner apply 1″ of closed cell spray foam to create an air and vapor barrier. After the closed cell spray foam insulation was applied to all walls and the roof deck in the attic, we then began to apply open cell spray foam on top of the layer of closed cell foam. 3″ of open cell foam was applied to increase the r-value of the walls as well and soundproof the interior of the home. 3″ of open cell was also applied to the roof decking.
The attic space was particularly important to properly insulate within this home. The previously unconditioned attic space contained an HVAC unit that was exposed to the elements throughout the year. In order to protect the unit as well as help it run more efficiently we enclosed the attic space and encapsulated it with the hybrid foam insulation. The roof deck was thoroughly insulated and all of the ventilation was closed in with foam. This created a conditioned environment for the HVAC unit to operate in.
After completing our installation the homeowner mentioned how happy he was with our work and complimented our install team. Great job guys!
