Attic Insulation Installers St. Louis, Mo

Green Space Construction is one of the premier attic Insulation installers in St. Louis, Mo

Today our attic insulation crew was on site installing blown cellulose attic insulation in a home that had the original fiberglass insulation in it since the time it was built.

It is common especially in older home for builders to install attic insulation at a minimum level. Sometimes this is due to the fact that the builder is not concerned with energy performance of the home. At other times the insulation was installed before there were any building codes requiring certain r-values or insulation depths.

According to our climate zone and the department of energy residents living in the St. Louis Area should have no less than an r-value of 38. Depending on what type of insulation your home or building has this means that according to code you should have roughly 16-18″ of fiberglass or cellulose. If you don’t your home is not performing at its optimal efficiency.

Increasing the attic insulation in your home is a very simple process. You can assess your current insulation level easily on your own. All that need to be done is open your attic hatch and grab a tape measure. Stick the tape measure down into the attic insulation until you hit the drywall attic floor. If you have less than 16-18″ on insulation you should consider installing more.

As far as the installation process goes, we simply enter the attic space. Install attic rulers to determine where the correct depth to install the new insulation needs to be and then begin the process. Whether you decide to install cellulose or fiberglass insulation the process is often completed within just few hours. There is no mess and the process is painless!
